It was crystal clear the day we arrived, then rained all the next day. Definitely jacket and sweatpants weather here. We stayed right near the waterfront with cruise ships and snow capped mountains for a view. We did some exploring, saw unexpected seals on an island where the river meets the sea at the old gold rush town site of Dyea, where the Chilcoot trail starts up over the mountains to the Yukon. Did a bit of tourist shopping. Celebrated Pat’s birthday with a good dinner at Stowaway Café on the waterfront. Drove up to White Pass at the Canadian border… cold, windy, above the tree line at over 3000 feet. Next we ferry to Haines.
Hey Pat and Annabel! You have some amazing pictures here. Bri and Jordan especially liked the eagles and bears. Jordan advises not getting too clost to the bears though. It looks as if you are having a great time!
